Police claimed that they have identified the mastermind and the shooters in the sensational murder case of Italian national Cesare Tavella.
“We have unearthed the conspiracy and blueprint behind the killing of Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella. We’ve already identified them…Now we’re waiting for evidence against them. We will inform you about that in proper time,” Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said on Sunday. He was addressing a press conference at DMP media centre on security measures during Durga Puja and Ashura. Although more than three weeks have passed, police still could not arrest anyone in connection with murder of Italian national Tavella, who was shot dead in Gulshan diplomatic zone on September 28.
Reliable sources said detectives have identified three persons with suspected links to Tavella murder. Of them, two were identified as Md Rasel and Tamjid Mohammad, activists of Dhaka unit BNP.
Islamic State reportedly claimed responsibility for the killings, but the DMP Boss again refuted any militant link to the murder and said cops are trying their best to catch the culprits.”No militant link was found in the murder case. It’s a planned conspiracy,” he said.
He denied to say if any political party had played any significant role in the murders. He also denied making any comment on the investigation as it is still under investigation. Recently, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said they were close to unraveling the mystery behind the murder that raised alarm both at home and abroad.
The DMP Commissioner also spoke regarding the security measures throughout Dhaka ahead of Durga Puja festivity and assured of adequate measures of safety for all.
