Staff Reporter :
During an anti-militant raid at the Atia Mahal in Sylhet, terror suspects exploded some grenades which killed seven persons, including an official of the Rapid Action (RAB) Battalion member.
Police have submitted a final report on the matter which states that all three masterminds of the grenade attack were killed in separate anti-militant drives.
Now there isn’t a single person to stand trial for the crime, reports our Sylhet Correspondent quoting Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Officer Abul Hossain.
During the 111-hour nerve-racking mission called Operation Twilight at Atia Mahal, four militants were killed, the police official said.
On March 25, militants exploded the first grenade near Atia Mahal. When police tried to recover a bag left by them, another grenade exploded killing the head of RAB intelligence, Lieutenant Colonel Abul Kalam Azad, two Police Inspectors and five others.
PBI says that, the main mastermind of the grenade attack, Mosharraf, his wife and five daughters were killed in a bomb blast on March 29 in Moulavibazar.
Another female terrror suspect of Atia Mahal, Marjina, and several others from a village in Naikhangchari was trained by Mosharraf to adopt extremist ideology. Marjina, her husband, their infant and two assistants killed themselves during a police drive in Sitakunda in Chattogram.
