City Detective police of CMP rounded up one mastermind of fake currency makers from Hajipara of north Patenga in city yesterday morning.
The detained identified as Rezaul Karim. He was arrested alongwith fake notes of Tk.31,500 . DB police sources said the mastermind of the currency forgery brought these fake notes from Dhaka aimed at circulating in the port city, the detained confessed to police.
Acting on secret information, DB police conducted raid in the area and rounded up him. Sources said the detained Rezaul is also shouldering a number of cases of circulating fake notes with the Raozan, Rangunia and Pahartali thana police.
A casein connection has been lodged with the concerned police station, sources added.
Trader with fake notes held: Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested a currency trader with fake notes of about TK 31.5 thousand in a drive at Hazipara area under Patenga thana early yesterday.
The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Reazaul Karim, 35.
On a tip off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) police conducted raid at Hazipara area under Patenga thana and arrested Reazaul Karim with 29 fake TK 1000 notes and five fake TK 500 notes, Patenga thana police said.
The arrestee confessed that they have been running business of fake notes in the port city for long.
