The government has developed master trainers in all the 64 districts to build 10,000 entrepreneurs of Union Digital Centers (UDCs) as info leaders, official sources said. They said 128 (2 in each district) local level journalists and entrepreneurs of UDCs were given extensive training in four batches on writing reports, features, outsourcing and e-commerce under a Trinomuler Tathyajanala Programme of ICT Division.
The ICT Division and Tathyaseba Barta Sangstha (TSB) jointly organized the training of trainer (master trainer) in four divisions involving senior journalists and outsourcing and e-commerce experts including former bureau chief of Associated Press (AP) Farid Hossain, Executive Editor of the Daily Observer Syed Badrul Ahsan, Deputy Editor of Metro Desk of the Daily Star Mahmudul Huq, Chairman of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Dhaka University Professor Mofizur Rahman, Chairman of the Department of Television and Film Studies Professor Dr. Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan, Chairman of Mass Communication and Journalism of Rajshahi University Professor Dr. Prodip Pandey and outsourcing and e-commerce expert Sohel Rana. “The ICT Division creates 128 master trainers who will play a vital role to provide training to about 10,000 entrepreneurs of 4,550 UDCs in writing reports, features, outsourcing and e-commerce and make them as info leaders,” said ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
He said the government has a plan to turn each UDC into a mini business process outsourcing (BPO) centers and the info leaders of this center will provide grassroot information to the people as well as run e-commerce to buy and sell various commodities including locally produced agricultural products and freelancing outsourcing involving 5 to 10 educated youths. The government has launched the Trinomuler Tathyajanala project aimed at making 10,000 UDC entrepreneurs into info leaders who will help create info-enabled and info-educated people in the rural areas, Palak said. Programme Director of Trinomuler Tathyajanala Programme Dr. Mehedi Hasan said the master trainers will provide training to 9,026 UDC entrepreneurs in 258 batches at districts and the training is expected to begin sometimes in August this year.
“The master trainers will now get one month online training prior to launch training for UDC entrepreneurs for enhancing their (master trainers) skills in writing reports, features, outsourcing and e-commerce,” said TSB Executive Editor Dr. Aliur Rahman.
He said the master trainers will be given assignments regularly for writing reports and features on local issues and developing websites required for outsourcing and e-commerce.
