Cumilla Warriors registered a massive 105-run victory over Rangpur Rangers in their first match of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh
Premier League (BBPL) at the flood-lit Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Wednesday.
Electing to bat first, Cumilla Warriors piled up a huge 173 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then they shot out Rangpur Rangers for 68 off 14 overs.
Dasun Shanaka of Cumilla Warriors top-scored with 75. He hit nine sixes and three fours in his 31-ball unbeaten innings. Shanaka was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding batting performance.
Soumya Sarkar, DJ Malan, Sabbir Rahman added 26, 25 and 19 runs respectively to the Cumilla total.
L Grogory, Sanjit Saha and Mustafizur Rahman of Rangpur Rangers bagged two wickets each conceding 25, 26 and 37 runs respectively.
Later, Mohammad Naim, Mohammad Shahzad and Mohammad Nabi of Rangpur Rangers could reach double-digit figures scoring 17, 13 and 11 runs respectively.
Al-Amin Hossain of Cumilla Warriors captured three wickets at the cost 14 runs, while Sunzamul Islam and Soumya Sarkar picked up two wickets each for four and 12 runs.
Besides, Abu Hider and Mujeeb Ur Rahman took one wicket apiece.
