The BNP supported ‘Blue Panel’ swept the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) election for the years 2018-2019.
The Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Panel i.e. ‘Blue Panel’ secured 10 posts out of 14 including the posts of President and General Secretary.
On the other hand, Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parisad, popularly known as ‘White Panel’, (a pro-Awami League panel) secured four posts only including one Assistant General Secretary and three Executive Members.
Incumbent Advocate Zainul Abedin and Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin
 Khokan are re-elected as President and General Secretary of the organization respectively.
Advocate Zainul Abedin polled 2369 votes while his nearest contestant Advocate Yousuf Hossain Humayun got 2315 votes.
Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan bagged 2616 votes while his nearest contestant Advocate Sheikh Md Morshed got 2175 votes.
Md Golam Mostofa (2443) and Dr Md Golam Rahman Bhuiyan (2246), both from Blue Panel, elected Vice-Presidents and Nasreen Akhter (2476) of the same panel won as Treasurer.
Kazi Mohammad Joynal Abedin (2695) of Blue Panel and Md Abdur Razzak (2391) of White Panel elected Assistant General Secretaries.
Mahfuz Bin Yousuf (2690), Md Shofiul Alam Mahmood (2441), Md Ahasan Ullah (2351) and Md Mehedi Hasan (2334) of Blue Panel while Ashraful Hadi (2559), Shahana Parveen (2347) and Sheikh Muhammad Maju Miah (2344) of White Panel won as Executive member of the new committee.
Convener of SCBA election conducting committee A Y Mashiuzzaman announced the results around 7:30 am on Friday.
The two-day election to the Supreme Court Bar Association ended at 5.00 pm on Thursday in a peaceful and festive atmosphere.
A total of 4865 lawyers out of 6152 exercised their franchise this year, SCBA Superintendent Nimesh Chandra Das said.
