Bangladesh Premier League: Massive victory for Dhaka Dynamites

Dhaka Dynamites posted a massive 42-run victory over Rangpur Riders in their match of the AKS Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.
Dhaka Dynamites led the points table securing 14 points from 10 matches, while Rangpur Riders remained with 10 points from as many matches.
Electing to bat first, Dhaka Dynamites piled up a mammoth 188 for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then restricted Rangpur Riders to 146 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
Dhaka Dynamites made a solid start as Mehedi Maruf and Evin Lewis, the two openers put on together 103 runs for the opening partnership before Mehedi Maruf was trapped leg before wicket by Soumya Sarkar.
Evin Lewis hammered a hurricane 75. His 34-ball innings was ornamented with eight sixes and three fours.
Mehedi Maruf hit a polished 40 from 31 balls featuring three sixes and three fours.
Later, Shakib Al Hasan and Dwayne Bravo built another notable partnership for Dhaka Dynamites. They contributed 34 runs for the fifth wicket stand before Dwayne Bravo (16) was bowled out by Rubel Hossain when Dhaka’s total was 163 for the loss of five wickets.
After departure of Bravo, Shakib Al Hasan was bowled out by Rubel Hossain when Dhaka’s score 172 for the loss of six wickets.
Earlier, Evin Lewis was caught at the long-off by substitute Elias Sunny off Soumya Sarkar when Dhaka’s score was 122 for the loss of three wickets.
Shakib Al Hasan made 29 from 20 balls including three fours and a sixer.
Later, Nasir Hossain (3) was caught at the long-on by substitute Elias Sunny off Rubel Hossain when Dhaka’s total was 184 for the loss of seven wickets.
Rubel Hossain grabbed three wickets at the cost of 25 runs, while Ziaur Rahman and Soumya Sarkar got two wickets each conceding 22 and 27 runs respectively.
Rangpur Riders faced a batting collapse as they lost their six wickets for 46 runs.
Later, Ziaur Rahman and Sohag Gazi put on together 87 runs for the seventh wicket stand before Sohag Gazi was caught at the mid-wicket by Nasir Hossain off Dwayne Bravo when Rangpur’s score was 133 for the loss of seven wickets.
Ziaur Rahman notched up a superb 60. He hit three sixes and six fours in his 43-ball innings before he was bowled out by Abu Jayed when Rangpur’s innings came to an end.
Opener Nasir Jamshed was the other notable run getter for Rangpur who scored 21.
Abu Jayed claimed three wickets instead of 20 runs, while Shakib Al Hasan begged a couple of wickets for 11 runs.
Besides, Seekkuge Prasanna and Dwayne Bravo got one wicket each conceding 28 and 43 runs respectively.
Evin Lewis of Dhaka Dynamites was adjudged the Man of the Match.
