Massive T-Aman farming plan taken in Netrakona

Netrakona District Agricultural Extension Department (DAED) has undertaken a massive T-Aman farming programme for producing over 3.37 metric tons of Aman rice in the district during the current Aman season.
The DAE office sources said, under the Programme, a target was fixed to cultivate T-Aman paddy on a total of 1,39,731 hectors of land in ten upazilas of the district with a plan for producing 3,37,737 metric tons of the Aman rice.
Of the total land, 1,00194 hectors of land would be brought under high yielding variety (HYV) of the paddy and 39,537 hectors under local variety.
Meanwhile, the farmers have started rendering their field-level service for preparing the Aman seed-beds side by side with making their crop-fields suitable for the T-Aman cultivation.
Talking to the new nation correspondent, the deputy director of the DAED Netrakona Samir Kumar Sarker said that the field-workers and crops specialists of the DAED have continued working in the rural areas to let the farmers know about the modern methods of the T-Aman cultivation and achieving higher yielding rate of the crop by reducing production costs.
Apart from this, after having instructions from the government, different commercial banks including Bangladesh Krishi Bank has already undertaken various programs for disbursing crops- loans among the farmers to give them financial support and different state-run agencies including BADC and BCIC have started supplying improved quality seeds, fertilizers and other irrigation and agricultural equipments to them for making their Aman cultivation program successful , the deputy director added.
