Massive preparations taken to tackle coronavirus spread in districts

Khulna District Administration, Directorate of Health Services , Civil Surgeon Office and Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) have taken all-out preparations to combat the outbreak of corona virus (COVID-19) in the district.
The authorities concerned have formed an 11-member committee to monitor corona virus situation round the clock , create massive awareness, preventive measures and provide treatments to corona virus patients.
The decision was taken in an awareness meeting held at the conference room of Khulna Circuit House on Tuesday afternoon to prevent corona virus.
Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Talukder Abdul Khaleque attended the meeting as Chief Guest.
Chaired by Deputy Commissioner Md. Helal Hossain, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Divisional Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Anwar Hossain owlader, Divisional Director of health services Dr. Rasheda Sultana, Director of KMCH Dr. ATM Monjur Morshed, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sujat Ahmed, and President of Khulna Press Club S M Nazrul Islam, also discussed the meeting.
Khulna Mayor urged all not to get confused in the rumour regarding shortage and price hike of the masks and hand sanitizers.
He said directives have already been given to avoid public gathering or functions.
He also urged not to spread any misleading information and fear in the district through social media.
“No corona virus patient has so far been detected in Khulna ,” Civil Surgeon
Dr. Sujat Ahmed said, advising all not to be panicked and maintain the health directives to remain safe from corona virus.
Director of Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) KMCH ATM Monjur said 100-bed units with adequate medical equipment and health experts have been kept
ready to face the new corona virus .
DC Helal said, leaflets with precautionary measures are being distributed to increase awareness against corona virus while posters and banners will be pasted in the district.
Divisional Director of DGHS Dr. Rasheda Sultana said 300, 200 and 100 beds
hospitals respectively have been kept ready in the division, district and
upazilas to keep people coming from abroad or suspected corona virus infectedpatients in quarantine.
Besides, a total of 20-bed isolation units are kept ready for providing treatments to corona virus patients, if detected,” she added.
Sylhet Bureau reports: About 120 beds have been prepared at two hospitals in Sylhet to combat coronavirus (Covid-19). In addition, a thirty-bed hospital has been kept ready.
Members of the multi-sectoral committee is comprising the district administration to cope with the corona civil surgeon of Sylhet.
Some 100 beds have been prepared at Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital (Sadar Hospital).Besides, 20 beds have been prepared for Sylhet Infectious Diseases Hospital.
On the other hand, a directive has been given to keep Hazrat Shahporan (Rah) Hospital ready for 30-bed at Khadinpara in Sadar upazila.
The civil surgeon added that no one has been infected with coronavirus in the district so far. However, in light of the ministry’s decision, we have prepared the beds. The highest preparations have been taken to prevent corona.
Assistant Commissioner of the District administrator’s Office at 10am on Sunday night. According to a press release signed by Mezbah Uddin, Sylhet City Corporation, all municipalities and upazila councils were requested at a meeting held on Sunday to raise awareness and spread public awareness about the prevention of coronavirus. The meeting was requested to take publicity by printing the leaflets prepared by the Department of Health.
People from overseas are requested to stay in the self-contained quarantine at their own residence. If a person has any symptoms within the next 14 days of his return from abroad, he is immediately asked to notify the Civil Surgeon/Upzilla Health and Family Planning Officer and the following mobile phone number (hotline). Earlier, he said that the young man who was admitted to Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital in Sylhet on suspicion of being infected with the coronavirus was not infected. He also said that his blood test report had arrived in Sylhet on Sunday (March 8). It did not contain the coronavirus in his body.
Staff Reporter Mymensingh says: Mymensingh Medical College College Hospital and Mymensingh District Civil Surgeon Office have taken all preparations to fight the Corona virus in Mymensingh.
 Dr. Pragya Nanda of the Infectious Disease Cure Department at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital said, there are sixty beds in the isolation ward at Surjokanto (SK) Hospital. All preparations have been made to treat more patients if needed.
Mymensingh Civil Surgeon Dr. AKM Mashiur Alam said, a total of 12 people, including five doctors and assistants, were kept for check-up of people from India at Gobra Kura and Koratali land ports in Halowaghat upazila of the border area of Mymensingh.
Lakshi Narayan, Deputy Director of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, said there was nothing to fear about the coronavirus. So far no coronary patient has been identified in Mymensingh.
In addition to the 60 beds in Isolation ward at SK Hospital, thirty quarantine beds have been prepared at Paranganj Hospital, 18 km away from the city. Treatment will be made for 60 to 70 patients at Paranganj Hospital.
BSS from Rangpur adds: The authorities concerned have formed an 11-member committee as a part of hectic efforts to monitor coronavirus situation, create awareness, prevent its outbreak and provide treatments if someone is affected by the lethal virus.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Hirombo Kumar Roy said at his conference room in the late afternoon on Tuesday while answering questions by journalists on official preparations to prevent and tackle coronavirus outbreak in the district.
“We have formed the committee to contain coronavirus spread with Deputy
Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan as its Chairman and me as Member Secretary,” he said.
As a part of early preparations, 200 beds have been kept ready to keep people coming from abroad or suspected coronavirus infected patients in quarantine at the newly built 100-bed Rangpur Shishu Hospital in the city, he said.
“Besides, the five-bed isolation unit is ready at Rangpur Medical College Hospital for providing treatments to coronavirus patients, if detected anytime,” he said.
In addition, the decision has been taken to use the 31-bed Haragachh Hospital in Rangpur metropolis as Corona Unit if the number of suspected coronavirus infected people increases in the district.
The Civil Surgeon said there is nothing to be afraid of coronavirus infection as its mortality rate is just around two percent while the recovery rate is 98 percent.
“It doesn’t matter for common people to be fear or panicked. Rather everyone should comply with the health directives of the government,” he said, adding that coronavirus usually spreads through cough and everyone should remain careful.
He said an official control room has been opened at the Civil Surgeon’s Office to deal with coronavirus situation and common people can call at hotline numbers of 01718-564172 or 0521-62150 for emergency assistance.
“No coronavirus infected patient has so far been identified in Rangpur,” the Civil Surgeon said, and advised all citizens not to be panicked and maintain the health directives to remain safe from coronavirus.
