Massive plan taken for Robi crop cultivation in Narsingdi

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has taken up a massive plan to cultivation of various Robi crops in the district during the winter season.
A total of 63,924 hectares of land have been brought under various Robi crops cultivation in the district fixing the production target of 3, 90,751 tonnes, DAE official said.
The crops which will be cultivated in the upcoming season are-Boro paddy,Wheat,Mustard,Potato,Sweet-Potato,Groundnut,Vegetables ,Chilly .Onion ,Garlic ,Turmeric ,Dhania Kaesari, Mug, Mashur, Maskalai , Mator, Kawan, Tills and Tishi.
Deputy Director of DAE Latafat Hossain said farmers in different upazilas of the district have already started cultivation some of these crops and the cultivation of rest crops will be started very soon.
He hopes that if there is no climate hazard the production target will be achieved.
Hybrid Boro paddy seeds distribution begins
Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) has started distributing seeds of hybrid Boro paddy-BRRIdhan 28, 29, 50 and SL-8H-among farmers through selected dealers of the district.
According to BADC local office, of the total allocation 995 tonnes 400-kg seeds for the district this season, so far 679 tonnes seeds have already been distributed through 104 dealers of six upazilas in the district.
Of the total dealers, 19 are in Sadar upazila, 20 in Shibpur upazila, 18 in Raipura upazila, 20 in Monohardi upazila, 16 in Belabi upazila and 11 in Polash upazila.
The dealers purchase per sack (10-kg) of seeds at a rate of Tk 320 from BADC local sell centre and are selling to the farmers at a rate of Tk 35 per kg.
Besides, the BADC also distributed three tonnes of mustard seeds- BRRI-14 and TORI-51- to the dealers at a rate of Tk 53 and 51 per kg
respectively.
