Massive irregularities have been alleged in implementing different works under Urban Governance Infrastructure Improvement Project (UGIIP-3), a project of Local Government Engineering Department at Charghat in Rajshahi.
Rajshahi Charghat Porashava has been upgraded to ‘A’ category and Tk 152cr was allotted under Urban Governance Infrastructure Improvement Project (UGIIP-3) for the development in which Tk 34cr work is going on or few work has already finished in Charghat municipality . The town dwellers complained that that the work which has been completed is not sustainable because of malpractice in the works .
UGIIP-3 constructions have been going on at Charghat Pourashava under district of Rajshahi. The total budget is Tk. 152 corer and out of that Tk. 34 corer construction works at the stage of ending. The low quality equipment and materials have been used in construction polluting the environment.
Charghat municipality is 21.81km length area. The poura dwellers demanded proper steps for construction of of footpath, supplying of pure water, lamppost, free from water logging and transport road. But Pouro Mayor Zakirul Islam Biqul, Engineer Rejaul Karim, Urban concern Engineer Humayun Kabir and contractors are jointly involved the irregularities alleged local Awami League President Anower Hossien, Pouro AL President Sazzat Hossien, Chhatro League President Al-Mamun Tuser, City Awami League Secretary Rayhanul Haque, Jubo League President Kazi Mahamudul Hassan, Bastohara League President Sahmim Sarkar and local leaders .
Works under UGIIP-3 began in 2015 in Charghat Pourashava by SR (JV) Enterprise proprietor Imadaul and he has finished the first phrase, Liton Traders, Mukta Construction, MMW(JV) Proprietor Washim have been working in the second phrase. It is alleged that they are doing low-quality works to gain more profits in collusion with the officials of the project but they claimed , 100% work is going on maintaining good quality.
When contacted Pouro Engineer Rajaul Karim, Urban Engineer Humayon Kabir said , there is no scope of irregularities in UGIIP-3 and they further said when the allegation of malpractice found Chargaht Pouro administration has taken action against offenders.
