UNB, Dhaka :Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) will launch a month-long mass signature campaign on March 15, demanding the arrest of the killers of journalist couple Sagor and Runi.On completion of the campaign, the DRU will submit a memorandum with the signatures to the Prime Minister’s Office to press home the demand. The DRU leaders announced the programme at a press conference at the DRU on Friday as their one-month ultimatum to divulge visible progress in the investigation into the gruesome murder expired on March 10. DRU president Jamal Uddin addressed the conference while its general secretary Razu Ahmed read out a written statement. As part of the fresh programme, the signatures will be collected at DRU office and different media houses in phases, they said. On February 11 last, the DRU arranged a rally on its premises on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the gruesome killing of news editor of Maasranga TV Sagor Sarwar and Senior Reporter of ATN Bangla Meherun Runi.At the rally, the DRU leaders gave the government one month to disclose visible progress in the investigation into the murder. At the press conference, the journalist leaders said the authorities concerned failed to divulge any progress in the last one month, let alone identifying the perpetrators. They said, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), the investigation agency of the case, could not even submit its progress report case before the court on February 28.
