BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has said that the BNP-led 20-party alliance will forge a united and mass resistance against misrule and misdeeds of
the present government after the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. “Our victory is a must, as the people are eagerly waiting for a mass movement against the government,” she said while addressing an Iftar party in the city on Monday.
The former premier asked the leaders and workers of the 20-party alliance to be ready for taking part in the tougher movement after the Eid.
Jatiya Gonotantrik Party (Jagpa) hosted the Iftar party in honour of the political leaders at a city hotel. Leaders of the 20-party alliance joined the function.
Addressing the function, Khaleda Zia said that the country is passing through a crisis moment. There is no legal government in the country. The Awami League forcibly grabbed the power, she said. About the January-5 elections, she said. “At least 95 per cent people of the country boycotted the election responding to our call. The people are now with us. So the 20-party alliance is now an alliance of 95 per cent people. We will launch a strong resistance after the Eid along with the 95 per cent people.”
She also said that the ministers of the government and the ruling party leaders are busy with looting, corruption, killing and abduction. No one is safe in the hands of the present government, she alleged.
Mentioning the attempt to kidnap Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) President, Khaleda Zia said that the goons of the ruling party and the members of the law enforcing agencies are involved with the incident. They failed to kidnap the journalist, as the people were united and they saved him.
