The Health Department has started a public awareness campaign in the city to prevent coronavirus infection. During the three-day campaign, 2,340 street rallies have been organized in eight districts of Rangpur division to prevent the spread of Indian variants, including wearing proper face masks, adhering to hygiene rules and creating health awareness.
Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Mayor Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa inaugurated the public awareness campaign in front of the Rangpur Divisional Health Director’s Office on Monday noon. The government is trying its best to prevent the loss of life and victims of Corona. But the way the public is moving, forgetting Corona’s fears, indicates a dire situation.
We are launching a campaign to save Rangpur in this situation. The mayor further said that at present the number of cases and deaths due to corona in Rangpur is at a tolerable level.
But we are not safe in Rangpur division as there is Indian border and land port. Now we have to be careful. Hygiene rules must be followed following government guidelines.
Looking at India, there is no chance of neglecting corona. Dr. Ahad Ali, Rangpur Divisional Health Director, said that the rate of corona infection is now declining as a result of the government’s strict restrictions. The big challenge is to sustain this success. Now a massive mobilization campaign is needed to bring the infection rate below or below 5 percent.
Neighboring country India’s variant is deadly harmful and the risk of spreading to Rangpur division is very high. At present, there is no alternative to wearing a proper mask and following the hygiene rules to prevent corona.
The health director said that in the campaign, there will be 4 awareness campaigns, 16 in eight district headquarters of the division and 6 in 56 upazila headquarters. Miking will be done in each area at the end of the rally. In addition to the specialist doctors of the health department, health workers will take part in a total of 2,340 road rallies in three days.
In the inaugural ceremony, the convener of the public mobilization campaign committee and Rangpur District Civil Surgeon. Hiramb Kumar Roy, Rangpur Divisional Health Director’s Office Assistant Director Dr. Jawaherul Anam Siddiqui, RCC Chief Health Officer. Kamruzzaman Taj along with officials and employees of Health Department, City Corporation and Civil Surgeon’s Office were present.
