Mass awareness for preventing maternal death underscored

Speakers at an orientation meeting have stressed for creating public awareness and ensuring proper nutrition of the pregnant women to ensure safe pregnancy and safe maternity for preventing maternal and neonatal deaths.
World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) organised the orientation under its Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) for the males to enhance their knowledge on maternal nutrition during pregnancy, health and medicare issues for the pregnant women.
Chairman of Syedpur Community Clinic Yakub Ali attended the orientation held at Syedpur Community Clinic under Betdighee union of Fulbari upazila in Dinajpur on Wednesday as the chief guest.
With Programme Officer of Fulabri ADP of WVB Badal Sangma in the chair, its Health Programme Organiser Kanon Baroi, Community Health Care Provider (CHCP) of Syedpur Community Clinic Mominul Islam, its member Hased Ali Master addressed the occasion as special guests.
Thirty male persons from different villages under Betdighee union of Fulbari upazila in Dinajpur district participated in the orientation meeting.
Health Programme Organiser Kanon Baroi discussed various related issues and disseminated knowledge on importance of ensuring safer pregnancy, safer maternity and safe delivery with better maternal and neonatal health services. He provided information on sources of nutrition, importance of optimum nutrition for pregnant women and five major dangers during pregnancy, reasons behind maternal and neonatal deaths, eradication of social superstitions and importance of first milk of the mothers for the newborn babies.
