Under the auspices of Kamalesh Majumdar, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Mongla in Bagerhat district, masks were distributed free of cost among five thousand Musallis of at least 25 mosques of Mongla Pourashava and the outsides on Friday before Jumma prayer.
Those mosques are Central Bazar Jame mosque, Traders’ mosque, BLL mosque, Hospital mosque, Thana mosque, Upazila Parishad mosque and others.
At that time the Upazila Nirbahi Officer handed over the masks to the Iamams, Khatibs and the members of the Masjid committees to distribute masks among the Musallis.
At that time the UNO was accompanied by Nayan Kumar Rajbangshi, Assistant Commissioner, Lands (AC, lands), Asif Iqbal, Senior Assistant Police Super of Mongla-Rampal Circle and members of the police.
The members of the local administrations also distributed masks among the passers-by.
At that time the UNO told, there is no alternative of using masks in order curb the corona pandemic.
So, this appreciable step was taken by the local administrations to convince the people to use masks with a view to protecting them (people) from the Covid-19 infections.
