A BCL leader was chopped by some masked-terrorists and caught serious injury at the varsity’s Amanat Hall area on Saturday night.
The victim was TaiefulHuqTopu, a vice-president of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Chittagong University Unit and was the leader of BCL factional group Concord.
Topu and his political colleagues prosecuted another vice-president Mohammad Mamun and BCL central committee leader Diaz Irfan Chowdhury for the attack, however the duo denounced the allegation.
The eyewitness said, some 12-14 masked-men with matched and sharp weapon assaulted on Topu while he along with his fellow Mizanur Rahman another BCL leader, holding the post of feeding secretary was sitting in front of Amanat Hall. Mizanur Rahman was also injured while he came to save his colleagues.
After chopping Topu, the assailant left the spot speedily and no one was still detained in this connection, said police sources. Topu was immediately sent to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and his surgery was completed.
Topu was chopped severely and his head was found three stain of hacking, said on duty doctor, adding his legs were hacked very notoriously.
The BCL president accused the BanglarMukh activists for the attack, saying a central leader wishing the attack on BCL dedicated Vice-President TaiefulHuqTopu.
However, BCL Vice-president Mohammad Mamun said, we don’t know about the matter. As BCL central leader Diaz Irfan Chowdhury was living in Dhaka after the formation of central body and working for BCL in full swing, so there is no scope on the allegation.
Mentionable, another BCL leader Sahin was chopped by the activists of Varsity-express, another factional group of BCL a month ago. The administration in this connection suspended three more BCL activists for two years each.
Meanwhile, some BCL leaders on condition of anonymity alleged, such an attack rising after one faction lead by BCL ex-leader Jamshed Chowdhury and BCL incumbent president and secretary grabbed the tender of 75 crore taka from the varsity while VX group leaders, BanglarMukh leaders and VX leaders deprived from having the tender witnessing the bar from opposite group.
Many said, Topu and Sahin became active during the tender session and putting blockade to the VX and BanglarMukh so that they couldn’t submit the tender essentials.
