Bangladesh and Minister Dhaka pacer Mashrafe Mortaza will miss the first two matches of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), it was confirmed by Dhaka’s captain Mahmudullah Riyad on Thursday.
The 38-year-old pacer returned to practice with a back injury on 6th January, as he could not recover from the old back injury, he will not take part in the first two games.
“Mashrafe flourish the pace bowling unit. His experience comes in handy considering the condition. But I don’t think we will get him in the first two matches. I hope he will play in the third match,” said Mahmudullah.
Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has also been ruled out after he tested positive for Covid-19 and he is currently in isolation. Mahmudullah said that he will be in the isolation and return after he recovers from Corona.
The 8th season of the six-franchise BPL will get underway today. Fortune Barishal take on the Chattogram Challengers and Minister Dhaka will face Khulna Tigers at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur.
