Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza has been suspended for one ODI and fined 40 percent of his match fee for maintaining a slow-over rate in the World Cup Cricket quarter final against India.
The team has been fined 20 percent of their match fees after being ruled to be two overs short of its target in the match on Thursday at Melbourne Cricket Ground, an ICC statement said.
Mashrafe was earlier found guilty of the offence during the Pool A match against England on Mar 9 and the second violation within 12 months has resulted in the stiff penalty.
The charge was put up lby on-field umpires Aleem Dar and Ian Gould, third umpire Steve Davis and fourth umpire Paul Reiffel,
ICC Match Referee Roshan Mahanama imposed the penalty after the match.
Mashrafe, who was limping through his spells for several matches, has pleaded guilty and will be missing the next ODI, which is currently scheduled against Pakistan in April/May.
Throughout the tournament, Mashrafe has laboured on gamefully despite niggling injuries.
