Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan, two of the top cricketers in the country, are going to ‘collect’ Awami League nomination forms for the upcoming general election.
“Both Mashrafe and Shakib called our General Secretary Obaidul Quader and said they would collect the forms on Sunday,” Awami League’s Deputy Office Secretary Biplab Barua told bdnews24.com on Saturday.
Mashrafe intends to contest from Narail and Shakib from Magura, said the Awami League official.
Mashrafe, the present captain of the one-day team in national cricket, is already involved in social welfare activities in the constituency.
He established an institution called ‘Narail Express Foundation’ last year with a goal to bring development to different sectors in Narail. Test team captain Shakib’s ancestral home is in Magura.
