BSS, Dhaka :
Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said he is happy with the overall performance of the team but categorically rejected idea that their win in the first ODI against India was a revenge for the World Cup quarter-final defeat.
“I think revenge shouldn’t exist in sports. We are all humans with families. We all play cricket. The question of revenge can’t be considered here,” said the speedster at a post-match press conference.
“Definitely delighted with team’s performance. You can’t ask for more than that. The way the boys are playing, I am extremely happy with their performance. We knew that he (Mustafizur) can surprise any batsman, he bowled really well,” he added.
The skipper said Bangladesh openers Tamim and Sarkar set the tone at the start with 102-run opening stand.
“It was a brilliant start from Tamim and Soumya Sarkar, that set the tone for us. We lost the momentum due to rain in the middle but Shakib and Sabbir Rahman did it for us,” he added.
Bangladesh pacers made the best use of the overcast conditions of ground and rattled the Indian batting line-up with regular wickets.
