Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday named pacer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza as skipper of ODI side of Bangladesh National Cricket Team.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the BCB Board of Directors at Mirpur.
The meeting also decided to make ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan as vice-captain for the ODI format while Mushfiqur Rahim will lead the Test side with Tamim Iqbal being his deputy.
Mashrafe, 31, national team’s experienced right-arm fast-medium bowler hailing from Narail who earned a sobriquet as ‘Narail Express’, played 36 Tests, 139 ODIs and 28 T20Is.
He captured 78 Test wickets, 174 ODI wickets and 26 T20I wickets as bowler while scored 797 runs in Tests, 1298 runs in ODIs and 262 runs in T20Is as batsman.
Meanwhile, the new captain is now in Incheon of South Korea to lead the Bangladesh team to the 17th Asian Games T20I cricket.
Bangladesh’s mission in the Asiad will begin with taking on Kuwait on Wednesday at Yeonhui Cricket Ground, Incheon.
