Sports Reporter :Captain of Bangladesh National Cricket team Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is confident about the newcomers of his squad, who will play in the ICC Cricket World Cup scheduled to be held in Australia and New Zealand from February 14.A number of nine cricketers will play for the Bangladesh ODI Squad in World Cup for the first time. They are: Mominul Haque, Nasir Hossain, Anamul Haque, Sabbir Rahman, Taijul Islam, Al-Amin Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Arafat Sunny and Sounya Sarker.Mashrafe Bin Mortaza spoke at a press conference at the Media Briefing Room of Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.Mashrafe said, “The newcomers always do well if they get chance. In the World Cup 2007, Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim played for the first time. This time Mominul, Anamul, Taijul, Taskin, Soumya, Al-Amin, Arafat, Nasir are going to play in the World Cup for the first time. Besides, there are number of seven and eight experienced cricketers who can do well.”The 31-year medium pacer said, “All cricketers have come this stage after showing their ability and confidence. Some of them performed well in some international matches. Some of them proved their potentiality in the domestic cricket competitions. Everybody is tested in their position. I hope that they will do well with the help of experienced players.”He said, “We want to make a good start in the World Cup. We shall try to reach the second round. It is a tough task. We have to win at least three matches to play in the last eight. We have to get a good result against the first match against Afghanistan. If we win that match, the players will get a platform. Then we will get a plan against the other matches. We can prove our skill but we need mental strength to perform well in the tournament. The teams, which can take the mental pressure, will get good result.”Mashrafe Bin Mortaza admitted that the pacers used to get extra advantages in the bouncy wickets of Australia and New Zealand. But Bin Mortaza expects that the spinners of his team will prove their ability in the World Cup.He said, “The spinners will play a good role in Australia. The matches, which I have watched recently, I watched that the spinners were showing good performance in those matches. Shakib Al Hasan is our best spinner. Shakib can bowl well in any wicket of the world. Arafat Sunny and Taijul Islam are with him. Mahmudullah Riyad is also in a good form. I hope that the spinners will perform well.”The skipper of the Bangladesh said, ” Mushfiqur Rahim can bat well against any bowler of the world. Mushfiq can fight against the other good batsmen of the world by showing his performance. Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim have come to a stage to perform well.”Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said, “If we want to get good result against our stronger opponents, we have to perform well in three departments (bowling, batting &fielding).If we want to get win we have to play well by giving our cent percent effort.”
