Martyr’s brother testifies against Jabbar

A new prosecution witness (PW) in the trial of Engineer Abdul Jabbar on Thursday submitted his deposition, accusing the fugitive JP leader (Jabbar) of shooting his elder brother.
Santosh Kumar Khorati, 63, from village Noli under Mothbaria Police Station in Pirojpur, submitted his deposition as the 19th prosecution witness (PW) at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1.
“Jabbar and his cohorts raided our village on May 22, 1971. On their way to entering the village, Jabbar shoot my elder brother Sokhanath Khorati. He then asked his followers to shot at Surendranath Biswas and his uncle Nishikanta of the village. Following his order, Razakar cadres gunned them down.
They killed 11 more people in our village including Jitendra Nath Biswas, Ganesh Chandra Biswas and Nepal Chandra Mistry. They looted at least 60 houses in our village including ours and later set fire to those,” said Santosh.
After his deposition, Advocate Mohammad Abul Hasan, state-appointed counsel for the accused, cross-examined him. After the conclusion of his cross-examination, the ICT-1 adjourned the hearing till Sunday. The ICT-1 on August 14 indicted Jabbar, former JP Member of Parliament and framed five charges against him.
