Different organisations are preapred to observe the Martyred Intellectuals’ Day – 2015 here today with renewed promise for speedy trial of the war criminals, razakars, al-badars and al-shams.
The professional, socio-cultural and political organisations will place floral wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar, hoist black and national flags at half-mast and bring out candle-procession in the city streets for paying rich tribute to the martyred intellectuals.
Awami League (AL), its associate organisations, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad, Sector Commanders Forum, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Workers Parry, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal, Communist Party of Bangladesh, Sommilito Sangskritik Jyote, Rangpur Sahittya- Sangskritik Parishad, Rangapur Sahittya Parisat,Udichhi Shilpi Gosthi, Shilpokola Academy, Begum Rokeya University, Carmichael College, Rangpur Medical College and other organisations and institutions have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day.
Different organisations will begin the observance through placing wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar and monuments of the martyrs, hoisting of black flags and national flags at half-mast atop all public and private buildings before bringing out candle-procession.
Leaders of the district and city units of AL and its associate organisations will place wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Central Shaheed Minar and arrange a discussion on the martyred intellectuals.
Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin, its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, AL leaders Motahar Hossain Mowla, Abul Kashem, Rosy Rahman, Latifa Shawkat, Anwarul Islam, Mazed Ali and Jashem Bin Hossain Jummon and President of district Chhatra League Mehedee Hassan Rony will address.
President of city unit AL Shafiar Rahman, its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal, leaders of Jubo League, Chhatra League, Swechchasebak League, Sramik League and other associate organisations of AL will also take part in the programmes.
Talking to BSS, District Muktijoddha Commander Mosaddek Hossain Bablu called for forging rock-solid unity to foil all conspiracies being hatched by the anti-liberation forces against the country, its people and ongoing trial of the war criminals.
He said the nation cannot be freed from the stigma of unprecedented heinous crimes committed against humanity on this soil during the War of Liberation in 1971 without completing trial of all war criminals and killers of martyred intellectuals.
