A discussion meeting and award distribution was organized in Rangpur on the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals’ Day. Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion at Rangpur Town Hall on Tuesday morning. Rangpur City Corporation Mayor Md. Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa, Rangpur Range DIG Devdas Bhatracharya, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner were present as special guests. Alim Mahmud, Superintendent of Police Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, District Paridar Chairman Advocate ShafiaKhanam, District Awami League President Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed. President of MahanagarAwami League Safiur Rahman Safi, President of Press Club Mahbur Rahman Habu among others spoke on the occasion. Later prizes were distributed among students of different educational institutions.

Manikganj Correspondent says: The Martyred Intellectuals’ Day was observed the district on Tuesday by paying rich tributes to the intellectuals who were brutally killed by the Pakistan occupation forces and their local collaborators at the fag-end of the country’s Liberation War in 1971.The observance began through placing wreaths at the Shaheed Smriti Shoudho on behalf of district administration and police administration.
DC Muhammad Abdul Latif, Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Golam Azad Khan, Chairman Manikganj Zila Parishad Advocate GolamMohiuddin, Chief Executive Officer of Manikganj Zila Parishad Durre Shawaz and heads of educational institutions in the town placed the floral wreaths on the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
On this occasion a discussion meeting was also held at Manikganj Government High School Play ground chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Sanwarul Huque. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Abdul Latif was present at the function as chief guest.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Golam Azad Khan, Chairman Manikganj Zila Parishad Advocate Golam Mohiuddin, Public Prosecutor (PP)Advocate Abdus Salam, Mayor Manikganj Pourasabha Md. Ramjan Ali, District Awami League Joint Secretary AFM Sultanul Azam Khan Apel and former Deputy Commander, Manikganj District Freedom Fighters Command Council, Momin UddinKhan, among others, spoke at the function.

District Administration in Kishoreganj, ruling Awami League , Press Club , JASOD, Ganatantree Party, BASOD, CPB and many socio-cultural organisations were chalked out separate programmes to observed the day with due honour to the greatest martyred whose supreme sacrifice is eternally being regarded as the source of inspiration for all to carry forward the hopes and aspirations of the nation to the future.

Lalmonirhat Correspondent says: A zoom discussion meeting was organized by the District Administration on the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals’ Day on Tuesday. DC Abu Jafar presided over the function. Among others, District Superintendent of Police Abida Sultana, Civil Surgeon Nirmalendu Roy, Deputy Director Agriculture Extension Department Shamim Ashraf. Vice Chairman of the council Abdus Salam Khan, former commander of Muktijoddha Sangsad Golam Mostafa Channa Mandal, Bir Muktijoddha Nazmul Islam Mintu, Bir Muktijoddha Fazlur Rahman Fantu, Bir Muktijoddha Siraj Uddin Biswas, Press Club President Prof Swapan Kumar Kundu and social officials spoke.
