The Martyred Intellectuals Day was observed in the district on Wednesday commemorating the tragic killing of the final victory achieved through a bloody Liberation War in 1971.
Kishoreganj District Administration, Kishoreganj Press Club, ruling Awami League, Jasod, NAP, Ganatantree Party and many socio-cultural organisations chalked out separate programmes to observe the Day with due honour to the greatest martyred whose supreme sacrifice is eternally being regarded as the source of inspiration for all to cary forward the hopes and aspirations of the nation to the future.
Kishoreganj District Administration hold a discussion meeting at its Conference Room with Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas in the chair.
It was addressed among others by ADC (Gen) Tarafder Md. Akhter Jamil, District Awami League Secretary Adv M.A Afzol, Adv Nasir Uddin Faruki, Ganatantree Party President Adv Dolon Bhowmik, Principal Prof Rafiqul Islam Khan, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Sonak President Saiful Hoque Mollah Dulu, Educationalist Abu Khaled Pattan, Mohila Somity President Sultana Razia, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Women Leader Bilkis Begum, Hindu Kallan Trusti Lipu Roy and Samiul Hoque Mollah.
Kishoreganj Press Club arranged a discussion at its Conference room on Wednesday evening. Club President Kazi Shaheen Khan presided over the discussion meeting .
BSS from Faridpur adds: at a discussion meeting here on Wednesday afternoon paid homage to the martyred intellectuals, who were killed during Bangladesh’s liberation war in 1971.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Umme Salma Tanzia was the chief guest at the meeting with ADC (Gen) Protap Chandra Biswas in the chair.
Addressing the meeting, speakers said sensing the liberation of Bangladesh was inevitable the occupational Pakistani forces in nexus with their local cohorts, including various infamous gangs of the then Jamaat-e-Islami, had carried out the heinous crime of annihilating the country’s intellectuals.
The speakers said though the forces conducted the killing spree of members of the intelligentsia throughout the nine-month liberation war they led a systematic killing just two days ahead of the final victory.
