As part of its non-cooperation movement, the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) has announced a fresh agitation programme of boycotting markets in all upazilas here on July 29.
PCJSS has already distributed leaflets asking indigenous people to refrain themselves from going to markets from dawn to dusk and make the programme a success.
While visiting, PCJSS activists were found distributing leaflets at different points of Rangamati town. Already its associated organisations – CHT Mohila Samiti, Hill Women Federation, Juba Samity and Pahari Chhatra Parishad (PCP) held programmes in Rangamati and Bandarban districts in support of the boycott.
Assistant Information and Publicity Secretary of PCJSS, Central Unit, Sajib Chakma said, “Our party has declared the agitation as part of the non-cooperation movement, which was announced by our party chief Santu Larma on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of the Peace Accord at Hotel Sundarban of Dhaka on December 3 last year. Following the declaration, the non-cooperation movement started from May 1, 2015. Our movement will continue until the peace deal is fully implemented.” “Almost two-third provisions of the treaty have remained unimplemented over the past seventeen years,” Sajib added. On the other hand, leaders of the ruling party claimed most part of the CHT Peace Treaty have been implemented by this time. The government will fully implement the accord in its tenure, they added.
