Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to continue hoisting local cautionary signal number three as the low over the North Bay and adjoining area has intensified into a well marked low over the same area. “The low is likely to intensify further and move in a north or north-easterly direction. Under its influence deep convection is taking place over the North Bay and adjoining area,” said a met office warning message here on Saturday.
Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh, the message added. All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
Moreover, river ports of the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Faridpur, Dhaka, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar have been asked to hoist cautionary signal number one by 6 pm on Saturday as rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary south or southeasterly gusty or squally wind speeding 45-60 kph is likely to occur over the regions, said another met office warning message.
