Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club sharing the top slot with Usha KC in the 12-team Dhaka Premier Division Hockey League after a 4-2 win against bottom-run Wari Club at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium on Monday.
Mariner collected 19 points from eight matches with six wins, one draw and one loss to share the top slot while Usha KC collected identical 19 from seven matches with six and one draw.
In the day’s match, Arshad Hossain, Fazle Hossain Rabbi and Waqar Sharif struck one field goal each in the 16th, 43rd and 58th minutes respectively for Mariners while skipper Mamunur Rahman added one penalty corner goal in the 33rd minute.
Musa Mia netted one field goal in the very 7th minute and scored one penalty corner goal in the 24th for Wari.
In another match of the league at the same venue and day, Bangladesh Sporting Club defeated Sonali Bank Sports and Recreation Club by 5-4 goals.
Prince struck three field goals in the 24th, 32nd and 56th minutes for Bangladesh SC while Seraj Ali and Shayem one each in the 15th and 34th.
Ishan Ullah Khan struck two penalty corner goals in the 22nd and 67th minute for Sonali Bank SRC. Belal Hossain and Toseef Ahmed added one goal each in the 51st and 67th minutes.
