The Marcel Victory Day Karate Tournament, organised by Bangladesh Karate Federation, began at the Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium in Mirpur here on Wednesday.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder inaugurated the meet while President of Bangladesh Karate Federation M Moklesur Rahman presided over the inaugural function.
Six events were decided on the first day (Wednesday). The events were Singles Kata for 8-10 years boys; Singles kata for 8-10 years girls; Singles kata for 14-16 years boys; Singles kata for 14-16 years girls; Kumi for women (-25 years); and Kumi for men (-35 years).
Gold medalists of the day’s events: Jayonti Biswas (singles kata for 8-10 years girls); Kartik DG (singles Kata for 8-10 years boys); Prasanta Biswas (singles kata for 14-16 years boys): Bangamali Saren (singles kata for 14-16 years girls); Jayonti Biswas (Kumi for -25 years women); and Sakhawat Hossain Shawon (Kumi for -35 years men).
