CCC election: Manzoor, Nasir start poll campaigns

Ten aspirants of Chittagong mayoral race including BNP- backed and AL- backed mayor nominees Manzoor Alam and AJM Nasir respectively began formal election campaigns from yesterday.
 Though the allocation of election symbol fixed on April 10 next , according to election code of conduct of 2010 election campaign is allowed three days before allocation of election symbol.
 Nominee of Chittagong Development Andolan and BNP- backed immediate past mayor Manzoor Alam is expected to launch formal election campaign from tomorrow after Jumha prayer from Patenga Ward .
 In the meantime, Manzoor opened a central election campaign office in Dewanhat area in city .
On the other hand, AL- backed Chittagong Nagorik Committee nominee and city Awami League General Secretary AJM Nasiruddin unveiled formal election campaign from Tuesday midnight at Priya Community Centre in the city followed by Milad and Doa Mahfil and offering ziarat at ShahAmanat Mazar .
 He lauched fulfledged campaign from Wednesday after offering ziarat at the grave of his father at Kadam Mobarak mosque grave yard and taking blessing from his elderly mother.
Meanwhile former Minister and BNP Vice- Chairman Abdulllah al Noman is given responsibilities of Election Management Committee for Manzoor Alam and the former minister and City BNP President Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury is also discharging responsibilities of chief election agent .
On the other hand, former member of parliament and member of AL Presidium Md.Ishaq Miah is elected as chairman of Election Management Committee for AJM Nasir and former Mayor and city AL President ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury as Member Secretary for the said committee.
 Publicity Secretary of AL central committee Dr. Hasan Mahmud is coordinating the election monitoring team centrally.Senior leaders of 20-party alliance and 14-party alliance are backing the respective mayor candidates.
Besides, election campaign under code of conduct , Returning officer of CCC Election-2015 Md. Abdul Baten told that the candidates for Mayoral election are allowed to launch election campaign from midnight of April 7 with limited extents but after allocation of election symbols candidates are allowed for full-swing campaign subject to condition of violation of election code of conduct.
 He also said, monitoring teams headed by Executive Magistrate will also watch the election campaign in the field, sources said.
