Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday hoped that the Memorandum of Understanding singed between Bangladesh and Malaysia on manpower recruitment will open up the new door of cooperation between the two countries.
The Prime Minister came up with the remark when visiting Malaysian Minister for Human Resources Richard Riot Anek Jaem met her at her official residence Ganobhaban. After the meeting, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters.
He said, Sheikh Hasina expressed satisfaction at the MoU signing under which 15 lakh Bangladeshi
workers would go to Malaysia over the next three years under G-to-G Plus initiative. She thanked the Malaysian government for its continued cooperation with Bangladesh on recruitment of workers.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Bangladesh’s all-out support to the agreed process of recruiting more manpower from Bangladesh through the proposed G-to-G Plus mechanism under a transparent, accountable and appointment process. The Prime Minister said the entire process will be done through online and all the data to be preserved systematically.
Highly appreciating the role of Bangladeshi workers, she said, they are now being trained and contributing to the economies of both the countries. Hasina also thanked the Malaysian government for legalising Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia.
At the meeting, the Malaysian Minister said Kuala Lumpur is going to recruit more Bangladeshi workers in other sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, plantation and manufacturing under the new MoU.
Expressing gratitude to the government of Bangladesh for signing the MoU, Richard Riot Anek Jaem said the cooperation between the two countries will further be widened in other areas in the future.
Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc and Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi were, among others, present.
