The National Institute of Ear, Nose and Throat, a specialized hospital and training center on Ear, Nose and Throat (Otorhinolaryngology) diseases, Tejgaon, is facing severe manpower crisis including physicians, said authorities concerned.
“This modern hospital needs 68 more doctors out of 94 while 24 personnel for the posts of class-3 employees and 28 posts for the fourth class ones,” hospital director Dr Md Jahedul Alam said.
He urged the authorities to fill up the vacant posts as early as possible to provide the proper medicare services.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the hospital on June 19, 2013. Later, it is opened for public.
The construction of the 12- storied building institute began in 2009 and is expected to be completed at the end of this year, hospital sources said. The 250- bed specialized institute would have an international standard audio-vestibular lab, sleep lab and voice study lab. It would act as an important center for training professionals in treating ENT disorders.
