After an interesting role in Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi earlier this year, Amruta Khanvilkar is excited about her second Hindi project for 2018. The actor will be seen opposite Manoj Bajpai in Satyameva Jayate. Amruta plays Sarita in the Milap Zaveri directorial, and admits that she is very much like her on-screen character. “I play Manoj sir’s character’s wife and to be very honest, I am exactly like her. She is mischievous, sarcastic and keeps pulling her husband’s leg. I am more or less the same. However, I had to tone down my hand movements and body language a lot for this character,” says Amruta.
She adds that her character is that of a fun-loving young wife who always deems it important to give her husband a reality check. “In fact, even Manoj sir noticed the similarity between me and the character. He was like, ‘Ekdum, correct role mila hai tumko’.”
Amruta is all praise of her co-actor, and says that Manoj made her feel comfortable on the sets right away. “People assume that because he does serious roles, he must be a very serious person. However, he is the complete opposite. He is a very fun person. He is a treat to watch on and off-screen. He is an acting institution in himself. The way he slips in and out of a role is brilliant,” adds the Katyar Kaljat Ghusali actor (2015).
