Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of ruling Awami League, on Tuesday erased the name of Mahmudur Rahman Manna from nameplate of the Dhaka Uniuveristy Central Students Union (DUCSU) as Vice-president.
His name was also wiped out from the namelist of Chirragong University
Central Students Union (CUCSU) by the BCL men.
The BCL leaders and activists also burnt of Manna’s photos, which were on the walls of the DUCSU and CUCSU collection centers.
The BCL anger followed the leakage of an audio tape of a telephone conversation between Mahmudur Rahman Manna and BNP Vice-Chairman Sadek Hossain Khoka on Sunday allegedly over a conspiracy of bloodshed in DU.
A group of BCL activists led by their vice president Joydeb Nandi, Joint secretary Abdur Rahman Jibon, assistant secretary Asaduzzaman Nadim , DU unit vice president Rezaul Islam Reza and DU unit Disaster and management affairs secretary Sheikh Faisal went to the DUCSU Collection Center and erased the name from the nameplate.
On the other hnad, a group of Chittagong University BCL activist led by varsity unit BCL organizational secretary Alomgir Tipu erased the name of Manna from the list at the CUCSU office.
It may be mentioned that Manna was elected GS of CUCSU from JSD Bangladesh Chhatra League in 1972-73.
