After making her celluloid debut with the Telugu film Prema Geema Janta Nai (2014), Mannara Chopra played the titular role of Maya in her maiden Bollywood film Zid. Despite delivering an impressive show, the erotic-thriller fell flat at the box-office. However, Mannara shifted her focus to regional cinema and featured as the leading lady in a string of Tamil and Telugu films. After playing a supporting role in Kajal Aggarwal’s Sita, the 28-year-old actress is back as the female lead in her upcoming film.
Titled as Hi 5, the dance-based project is directed by choreographer-turned-director Amma Rajasekhar and the regular shooting is in full swing. During a recent interaction, the Rogue diva stated that the director was impressed by her performance in Zid and recently, he approached her with an offer while she was busy judging a reality show.
Besides being an assistant choreographer, Mannara Chopra is fully trained in several dance forms like hip hop and belly dancing. “I have always been passionate about dance and wanted to do a dance-based film for a long time. So, as soon as Amma sir came with the film, I was thrilled with the concept.”
The Jakkanna actress also revealed that she is playing the role of a lady boss in a typical corporate set-up. She says that the role has good scope for both performance and dance.
“I underwent an image makeover for this role. I am also sporting costumes which I haven’t tried earlier, so it’s surprising to see myself on camera,” she added.
