A Dhaka court on Wednesday fixed February 10 for delivering its verdict in the Major General Manjur killing case. Dhaka’s first additional district and sessions judge Hosne Ara Akhter fixed the date after the conclusion of prosecution’s closing argument.Jatiya Party chairman and prime minister’s special envoy Hussain Muhammad Ershad is the prime accused in the case. Former military ruler General Ershad along with other accused was present during the prosecution’s closing argument.According to the case statement, Maj Gen Manjur was killed in police custody at the Chittagong Cantonment on June 1, 1981, after the killing of late President General Ziaur RahmanManjur’s brother Abul Mansur Ahmed filed the case with Panchlaish Police Station of Chittagong city on February 28, 1995, fourteen years after the killing.
