UNB, Manikganj :
Raja Babu, the biggest bull of the country, was slaughtered on the 2nd day (Thursday) of Eid-ul-Adha at Soidergaon village in Chhatok upazila of Sunamganj district.
Country’s famous businessman Syed Munsif Ali, founding chairman of Golden Life Insurance Limited, bought the bull from Gabtoli Cattle Market on Tuesday night for Tk 18.50 lakh, said Md Shahidul Islam, PS to the businessman.
Raja Babu’s owner Khalilur Islam Khannu of Saturia upazila in Manikganj district, however, asked its price Tk. 22 lakh.
The weight of Raja Babu, of the famed Holstein Friesian, more commonly referred to here as “Australian”, breed, was eye-watering 2094 kg (52 maunds, over 2 tonnes!), height 6 feet 6 inches tall, and it stretched 8 feet long front-to-back, with a tail length 4 feet 3 inches and – importantly for Qurbani buyers – 6 teeth.
Last Qurbani, though he made an appearance at Gabtoli, he failed to be crowned the King of the hat, or the one that fetches the highest selling price.
