Narsingdi Correspondent :A discussion meeting and Doa Mahifil in observance of the 45th death anniversary of eminent journalist and founder editor of the Daily Ittefaq Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia was held at Narsingdi Press Club on Sunday.Principal of Abdul Kadir Mollah City College Doctor Masiur Rahman Mridha attended the discussion and Doa Mahfil as Chief Guest with Narsingdi Correspondent of the Ittefaq and ex president of Narsingdi Press Club Nibaran Roy in the chair. The meeting was addressed among others by former President of Narsingdi Press Club Abdur Rahman Bhuiyan and Sarker Adam Ali, newly-elected President of Narsingdi Press Club Md. Habibor Rahaman, Secretary Makhon Das, journalist Abul Fais, Shafiqul Muhammad Manik, Haladhar Das, Mahabub Alom, Jainul Abdin, AK Fazlu Hoque, Biswajit Saha and teacher leader Afzal Hossain Kazal. The speakers said Manik Miah was the active journalist and also the eminent politician of the subcontinent. He was a close companion of Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy. Manik Miah was active in writing against military rule, autocracy, and violation of the fundamental rights of people and played a significant rule in inspiring the people to join the struggle for freedom under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman.After the discussion a Doa Mahfil was held there. Speakers called upon all to follow the ideology of imminent journalist Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia and said, founder of the Ittafaq Tofazzal Hossain Manik Miah fought against military and called upon all to join struggle for freedom of Bangladesh.
