A Doa Mahfil followed by discussion meeting to mark the 52nd Death Anniversary of Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia, founder Editor of Dainik Ittefaq and dreamer of Independent Bangladesh was held at Rangamati Press club hall on last Sunday with noted journalist AKM Maksud Ahmed in the chair.
Swadhin Sangbadpatra Pathak samity Rangamati chapter arranged the program. Rangamati Municipality Mayor Akbar Hossain Chowdhury was the chief guest at the event.
Central President of Swadhin Sangbadpatra Pathak Samity Journalist SM Jamaluddin was the principal discussant in it.
Among others, President of Rangamati Press club Sukhawat Hossain Rubel, general secretary Anowarul Hoque, journalist Shamal Nath, and former general secretary of Rangamati Press club Mohammad Ali participated the discussions.
The speakers in their deliverations reiterated that Manik Miah was one of the dreamers of Independent Bangladesh. Manik Miah during his professional life fought against the Pakistani occupation rulers demanding rights of East Bengal and full autonomy of the region and he always dreamed for a sovereign Bangladesh.
The theme of his dream was Swadhin Bangladesh. Manik Miah was a uncompromising leader of East Bengal who fought for a independent country till his death and was a close associate of father of the nation Bangabandhu, speakers opined.
The name of Manik Miah should be written in golden letters, speakers added. At end of the discussions, doa and monajat was conducted for salvation of the departed soul.
