BNP mayor candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Ishraque Hossain has announced his election manifesto promising to build Dhaka a modern and world-class metropolis.
“City dwellers are riddled with many problems and I’m promising to work to free the city from pollution, traffic and water-logging if elected,” he said while presenting his manifesto at the National Press Club on Tuesday.
He focused on healthcare, education, environment, and communication system and public safety for his promising better city where heritage blends with modern amenities.
The BNP mayoral candidate also pledged to work his utmost to boost moral values of people in the wake of widespread violence against women and children.
He also highlighted people’s plight in accessing various social services and blamed corruption, social discrimination and lack of accountability for this.
Ishraque vowed to give priority on reducing traffic congestion, improve education sector, and build an air and noise pollution free Dhaka city.
The mayor aspirant in his manifesto outlined 144 proposals under 13 points where public amenities, social works and public safety got focus.
He also said that corruption in the City Corporation would not be tolerated if people elected him.
“I’ll take zero tolerance policy against corruption within the DSCC once I get elected,” he said while talking to media after unveiling his manifesto.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee members Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dhaka University’s former VC Professor Dr. Emajuddin Ahmed, Gonoshasthya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President ASM Abdur Rob, were present, among others.
