Though six days have been elapsed of the murder and police failed to arrest any culprit in the connection with the murder of blogger Ananta Bijoy Das in Sylhet, the local chapter of Ganajagaran Mancha has sought the intervention of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to arrest the killers immediately.
The Sylhet district unit of Ganajagaran Mancha placed a memorandum to the Prime Ministers Office on Monday afternoon, demanding exemplary punishment to the culprits, said Rajat Kanti Gupta,
General Secretary of Sommilito Natto Parishad. In the memorandum, the Mancha activists mentioned that the killers of blogger Rajeeb Haider, Avijit Roy and Oyasikur have not been identified and arrested yet, he said.
It stated that the law enforcement agencies’ failure to arrest the killers resulted in the repetition of such killings.
Expressing concern over the administration’s failure to detain the culprits, they sought the Prime Minister’s intervention in this regard, he said.
Police are investigating the case considering the collected samples and other crime matters, said Nurul Alam, Investigation Officer of the murder case.
None were arrested in connection with the murder, but we are continuing our drive to arrest the culprits,” the police official said.
Ananta Bijoy Dash was hacked to death by miscreants armed with machetes when he was leaving his home for work in Sylhet town on May 12.
