Manarat College observes Historic March 7

With honour, reverence, and solemnity, Manarat Dhaka International School and College observed the Historic Day of March 7virtually,commemorating the renowned speech of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On this occasion, the historic speech of March 7 was played onlineand the college organized a discussion session.
It was very fortunate for Manarat College that they got two great sons of the soil as their guests. Dr. MozammelHoq, an organizer of Liberation War, honorary Professor of the Department of Microbiology and a member of Manarat Trust, presented his memories and experience of Liberation War on this Historic Day programme chaired by Brig Gen (Retd) Md Mehdi Hassan Pramanik, psc. Recalling March 7 and the War of Liberation, Mr. Hoq said the March 7 Speech was very important for the history of Bangladesh. Paying a tribute to Bangabandhu, he said thatBangabandhu was our hero.
ATM Rezaul Karim, a freedom fighter of Sector 9 and a hero of our Liberation War, presented his direct experience of battles to the students. His experience was motivational, adventurous and heroic. He said that we began our training for war with bamboo sticks after March 7 Speech. He further said that we did our training during night with the rifles provided by Bengali Police.
Then he described how he crossed the border and went to India for training risking his life. Remembering the miserable days of training camp, he said that there was a drain beside the place they slept in. Leeches and earthworms crept out of the drain and entered into some of their ears. Being horrified, they could not sleep properly. He also narrated the story of how he engaged in direct battles against the Pakistani military after the training. Being emotional, he commemorated his martyred comrades. The audience listened very attentively to the heroism and sacrifice of this great son of the soil. The Manarat family felt very proud to have the great freedom fighteramong them.
Among the teachers, Mohammad Abdul Hamid Khan, head of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, and Mr. Muhammad Hafizur Rahman, head of the Department of History and Geography, delivered their speeches. Sadman Jamal Siddique delivered his speech from the students. In their discussion, the speakers highlighted the importance and significance of the March 7 speech. Ms. Fatima Jemaima Rahman and Mr. Mohammad Farooque, vice principals of the college, were also present in the March 7 programme.
The patriotic songs and the poetry performed by the students and teachers of Manarat College pleased the audience. The programme came to an end with the speech of the Principal, Brig Gen (Retd) Md Mehdi Hassan Pramanik, psc.
