A devastating bowling display by slow left-arm spinner Manan Sharma enabled defending champions Abahani Limited to post an overwhelming eight-wicket victory over Victoria Sporting Club in the low scoring eighth round of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (PCL) held on Thursday last at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
Manan laid the foundation for his team to dismissed Victoria at a paltry total of 130 in 42.4 overs after the two Abahani openers Shadman Islam (58 n.o) and Liton Das (50) took Abahani at home in 20.5 overs with eight wickets in hand.
M Arafat and Imran Sarkar shared one wicket each for Victoria.
Earlier opted to bat first, Victoria Sporting Club faced serious batting debacle and the hardly failed to recover from their early collapse. Only three batsmen – Mohammad Arafat, Mehedi Mahbub and Mohimenul Khan – reached the double digits.
