Advocate Manabendra Batobayal (The Daily Sangbad) and S M Zakir Hossain (the Daily Matobad) elected as president and secretary of Barishal Press Club.
The panel led by them bagged 13 out of 17 posts of the executive committee while the rival panel led by Advocate SM Iqbal (the Daily Dakkhinanchal) and Murad Ahmed ( the Daily Independent) received only 3 posts.
Total 33 candidates contested in this annual election held from 4:00 pm -8:00 pm on Tuesday and 76 out of 81 voters cast their votes while 3 votes were cancelled, said S M Amzad Hussain, chief election commissioner of this election.
Sushanta Ghosh and Mithun Saha, president and secretary of Barishal Reporters Unity giving congratulating the newly elected body of Barishal Press Club hoped that they will work united to achieve legal and basic rights of the journalists working outside the capital city.
