A wild elephant trampled an elderly man to death in Mohammedpur area of Anowara upazila on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 70, of the area.
Dulal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Anowara Police Station, said the elephant attacked the elderly
man at dawn while he was going to a nearby mosque to perform Fazr prayers.
Saddam Hossain, a member of Boirag Union Parishad, said wild elephants frequently get down from Deang Hill and damaged houses and crops in the area.
