A court in Kishoreganj has sentenced one man to death and another to life imprisonment in the murder case of farmer Mofiz Uddin in Karimganj of Kishoreganj. Besides, two accused have been fined Tk 50,000.
Judge Nargis Islam of Kishoreganj’s Additional District & Sessions Judge, Court -2, pronounced the verdict on Monday afternoon.
The accused men is Abu Bakkar (45) son of late Abdul Jobber was sentenced to death. and Md Hares Miah son of Hasu Miah sentenced to life imprisonment at same village in Karimganj upazila.
According to the summary of the case, farmer Mofiz Uddin (65) was returning home from Karimganj Bazar on May 5, 2010. His body was later found under a wooden bridge in Khudir Jungle.
Following the investigation, on October 12, 2012, the accused Sheikh Abdullah filed a charge-sheet against the accused in the court.
Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Shah Azizul Haque represented the prosecution.
