Chittagong Bureau :
A Chittagong court sentenced a man to death in a 15-year-old murder case. Chittagong’s Fourth Additional District and Sessions Judge Tania Kamal delivered the verdict on Tuesday. She acquitted nine other suspects.
The convict Abdur Sabur is at large. Sabur and his armed men barged into his neighbour’s house in Bashkhali Upazila in February 2003, following a family feud, state counsel Nurul Ahsan said citing the case dossier. Sabur opened fire targeting his neighbour Mozaher Ahmed but the bullet hit Mozaher’s wife Dilwara Begum killing her on the spot, Advocate Ahsan said.
Mozaher started the murder case with Bashkhali police on which the court indicted 11 suspects in 2006. A total nine witnesses have testified over the past 10 years, said Ahsan. One suspect, Khalilur Rahman, has died.
