A court here yesterday sentenced a person to capital punishment for killing his physical-challenged grandfather over family feud three years back.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Jakaria Hossain handed down the verdict against Jahid Sheikh, 36, a resident at Dakhin Shonnashi village of the upazila.
According to the prosecution, Khalek Sheikh was hacked to death by Jahid Sheikh on May 30, 2014 at his home at Dakhin Shonnashi village as he refused to give him money.
Following the murder, Khalek Sheikh’s brother filed a case against Jahid with Rampal police station.
Later, police submitted the charge-sheet against Jahid on August 20, 2014.
Jahid was present on the dock during the announcement of the verdict.
